Hiker's body recovered from Jagged Mountain

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - The San Juan County Sheriff's Office says a hiker fell several hundred feet to his death while climbing Jagged Mountain north of Durango.

The hiker's identity and age were not released after Thursday's accident.

According to the Durango Herald, search and rescue members called a helicopter to retrieve the body.

In a separate incident, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park rangers searching for the driver of an unattended vehicle found a young man's body at the bottom of a cliff Wednesday.

The Montrose Daily Press reports that coroner's officials have ruled the death of 27-year-old Andrew Michael Barnes of Fort Collins was an accident. His body was recovered Thursday using a helicopter that was waiting nearby to fight wildfires.
