The word of the day to describe today's forecast: HOT!
The fire danger persists west of I-25, and a Red Flag Warning has been issued for this afternoon and evening for the Wet Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the San Juan Mountains, and the Sawatch Range.
Highs will be in the lower to middle 90's on the Palmer Divide, including Colorado Springs. Areas along and south of the Arkansas River will warm to near or just over 100 this afternoon.
Rain returns to Colorado tomorrow, and it could last through at least the middle of next week. It will mainly be in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms, which means some of us could miss out. Along with the rain, temperatures take a downward slide area-wide.
