An international study suggests ads encouraging smokers to quit can be effective.
You may have seen the anti-smoking ads running in the U.S.
They're part of the Centers for Disease Control's "Tips from Former Smokers" campaign.
The CDC found the ads significantly increased the odds smokers would want to quit in a majority of 17 countries.
Other CDC studies have shown the ads in the U.S. have increased calls to national quit lines.
