What should you do with that oil you used to cook the Christmas turkey?

Don't pour it down the drain. Instead recycle it. Pueblo residents may drop off that used oil at three locations:

  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 2313 S. Prairie Ave.
  • Southern Colorado Services & Recycling, 1731 Erie Ave.
  • Eden Transfer Station, 1405 Quartz Rd.

Used cooking oil should be brought in a sealable container. Just pour it out and then take the container home.

Pouring oil down the drain is a leading cause of sewer backups for homes and businesses. Cooking oil can be converted by professional recyclers and bio-refineries into viable resources such as bio-diesel.

The Cooking Oil Recycling Drop-off is coordinated by the Pueblo City-County Health Department's Environmental Coordinator Program and the City of Pueblo's Wastewater Division.
