Construction will begin in mid-September on Highway 24 in the Ute Pass area. Crews will replace a 79-year-old eastbound bridge, on the east side of Cascade. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction for approximately two weeks.

Separate crews will perform rock mitigation operations in mid-September, reducing Hwy. 24 to one lane in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, between Cascade and Manitou Springs.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will host an informational Open House Wednesday night to discuss the construction project and traffic impacts. The meeting will be held at Ute Pass Elementary School, 9230 Chipita Park Road, in Chipita Park, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Other upcoming projects--

  • an old wooden bridge on Highway 67 north of Woodland Park will be replaced.
  • a bridge on Highway 24 just west of Florissant will be replaced.

Vehicle registration fees are funding the projects.
