Icons from the 1950s arrive at the Pioneers Museum

Iconic figures from the 1950s come alive at the Pioneers Museum this Saturday during the Young Chautauqua Festival.
Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Ray Charles, and Richie Valens are among the dozens that will be in full dress this weekend.
Students from the Colorado Springs Conservatory and the Galileo School of Math and Science participated in a six-week intensive course studying a person from the past and now have the chance to reenact that individual. If you have a burning question for one of the reenactors, you are welcome to ask the performers after their appearance.
The program encourages students to learn history by allowing it to come to life through research and performances.
Over 2,000 students in the state have participated in the program, but this is the first one in Southern Colorado.
Organizers hope that the program will flourish and other schools in Southern Colorado will incorporate this kind of learning program into their curriculum.
