The biggest name of the Avalanche mid-week player haul is Jerome Iginla. Once one of the most exciting and talented players in the NHL, will now bring his goal scoring prowess to the pepsi center.
The former Bruin and Penguin spent most of his career with the Calgary Flames. The Avs weren't the only team that thought the 37-year-old could still skate, and score. Iginla admitted though, his friendship with Joe Sakic helped sway his decision to sign with Colorado.
"Definitely had something to do with it," said Iginla in his introductory press conference. "I have a lot of respect for Joe, and getting to know and play with him over the years, but also for the career he's had, and, you know, he's a winner, and, so it definitely had something to do with it."
The Avalanche preseason schedule starts September 22nd.
