The inventor of the TV remote has died at age 96.
Eugene Polley, died of natural causes on Sunday. His family says he passed away in a suburban Chicago hospital.
Polley's Flash-Matic pointed a beam of light at photo cells in the corners of the television screen. Each corner activated a different function, turning the picture and sound off and on, and changing the channels.
Polley's product was around by 1955, but it didn't become popular until cable TV was introduced.
