Olympic leaders have approved changes in track cycling and added mixed doubles for the 2012 London Games.

The International Olympic Committee agreed Thursday to five men's and five women's track cycling events as part of a gender equity plan.

Mixed doubles in tennis will be added to the men's and women's singles and doubles.

The Olympics will lose track cycling's signature event - the 4,000-meter individual pursuit. Also eliminated are the men's and women's points races, and men's madison. Dozens of current and former cyclists have spoken out against eliminating the individual pursuit. The new cycling program will have individual sprint, team sprint, keirin, team pursuit and the five-race omnium event.
