Issue 300 author Douglas Bruce will meet with Colorado Springs city staffers to try to clarify the purpose of Issue 300.
Voters passed Issue 300 in November 2009. It eliminates enterprise fees and phases out enterprise payments to the city in eight year's time. Several money issues have come up for debate, and councilmembers want to make sure they're following city charter and Issue 300.
Some of the major enterprises include the Colorado Springs Airport, Colorado Springs Utilities, and Memorial Hospital.
The city is drafting an ordinance to implement Issue 300. The trouble the city is having is drafting an ordinance that council members feel follows city charter and follows the intention of Issue 300.
For example, enterprises may share certain services (like legal and auditing) with the city and pay the city for them. It is been suggested that practice may have to stop under Issue 300.
City councilmembers will likely vote on a new ordinance next month.
