NEW YORK (AP) - Derek Jeter joined the exclusive 3,000 hit club in dramatic fashion. After closing in on the fabled number with a single in the first inning, Jeter slammed one of his rare home runs to left field for No. 3,000 in the third inning. Both hits came off of Tampa Bay's David Price.
Jeter is just the 28th player in Major League history to rack up at least 3,000 hits. He and former teammate Wade Boggs are the only players to reach the 3,000 plateau with a home run.
