Kadets fall in finale

It was a mile high heart breaker for the Air Academy baseball team Saturday. They essentially needed to sweep a double-header against Broomfield to win the state title.

By lunchtime, it looked like they might. The Kadets had edged the Eagles 3-2 in the morning game to force a winner-take all final.

But the final game proved to be too big of an obstacle as Air Academy fell 4-12.

"Sometimes you just tip your hat," said head coach Bernie Moncallo. "We stayed through the first game got a chance to play and that's all you can ask is to have a chance and play."

The Kadets finished the season with a record of 23-4
