DENVER (AP) - Police say a man suspected of kidnapping a woman at a Denver shopping mall and stealing her car is in custody. KMGH-TV reported that a woman at the Cherry Creek Mall was forced into the trunk of her car at gunpoint Wednesday. A few blocks away, the woman unlocked the trunk, escaped and called police.

Police say the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle early Thursday. He called a taxi and had left when a Jefferson County deputy responded to the accident.
Police say the deputy had a description of the suspect and identified the car as one stolen from Denver. The deputy spotted the suspect in the taxi and stopped it. The suspect was taken into custody at Jefferson County jail on traffic charges.
