Large turn out at El Paso County Democrat Assembly

Turn-out was better than expected at the El Paso County Democrat Assembly Saturday morning, held at UCCS.

"This really is grassroots politics," says Christy Lelait, Executive Director of the El Paso County Democratic Party.
"Where else are you going to get to see the governor, and our elected officials and Senator Udall's wife? It has been a great morning."

Governor Hickenlooper spoke to the strength of Colorado as a whole.

"I don't think you could put a state through a wringer, have the kinds of challenges we had and have a state respond any better than we did," he said.

It was no surprise that Senator Mark Udall earned 100 % of delegate votes as he moves toward the state convention.

Meanwhile Irv Halter won 128 delegates and Leslie Summey 30 as they look to the 5th Congressional district race.

Incumbent Democrats Pete Lee and Tony Exum are nominated for re-election, as well as Lois Fornander, nominated for House District 15.
