Las Conchas Fire update

The cause for the Las Conchas Fire that is burning near Los Alamos fire has been determined.

An Interagency fire investigation team says that the fire was caused by a fallen tree that caught fire after coming into contact with nearby power lines.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the City of Los Alamos.

Crews have been able to make good progress because of the overcast skies and higher relative humidity.

The fire is 19 percent contained. It has burned 123,563 acres.
