A late night electrical storm and high winds could be to blame for a power outage in Eastern El Paso County Saturday morning. At about 11:00 calls flooded into Mountain View Electric reporting what is now known to be a major power outage affecting at least 2000 customers in the area of Peyton.

Daryl Edwards,Spokesperson for Mountain View Electric says that the repairs could take up to 4 hours, but power could be restored well before that time. Crews are working to isolate lines and reroute to restore power. Edwards also stated that power will most likely cascade back on little by little as the reroute work progresses.

The damage was done to high voltage transmission lines and fire crews from Payton are on scene due to some arching and sparking in the area of damage.
