HAVANA (AP) - Nearly two-dozen singers and musicians from nine Latin American nations are feting Fidel Castro in a happy-birthday concert on the eve of the former leader's 85th.

The show in the Cuban capital is dubbed the "Serenade to Fidelity."

The Communist Party newspaper Granma calls it homage to Castro, Cubans and the 1959 revolution.

Dignitaries from other countries are expected, but it is not known whether Castro himself will show up. He has been out of power since 2006 and rarely appears in public.

Grammy winner Omara Portuondo is the main draw for Friday night's show at the Karl Marx Theater in Havana.
