Lawsuits dropped in dispute over back wages

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A former Aspen man and the owners of the restaurants he once worked for have agreed to drop lawsuits after the former employee admitted taking $2,000 from a safe around the time he was fired in October.

Joseph Kern sued in December for wages he said he was owed from Samantha and Craig Cordts-Pearce. They fired Kern, who had been their director of operations, for failing to show up for work.

According to the Aspen Daily News, Kern said he didn't know he had been let go at the time he took the money from the safe at CP Burger. He was arrested in March and pleaded guilty to felony theft. He was sentenced to two years that were deferred if he doesn't violate his probation.
