FORT CARSON- It can be tough for military personnel returning home as they often deal with either physical or mental disabilities.
At times, they can feel lost or forgotten. However, one group of students have bonded together to ensure that doesn't happen.
Through the Daniels Scholars Fund and the University of Denver, a select group of students who had written letters of gratitude to wounded warriors got them published in a booklet now being distributed to recovering military personnel at Fort Carson's Warrior Transition Unit.
"We actually got the chance to write to someone and knew somebody would be seeing it and that's really nice," University of Denver student Gabrielle Hammer said. "I have a really high respect for people in the armed forces and I just thought it was really meaningful that I got to do something like this."
The booklets will also be passed out to recovering war vets in hospitals across our region.
