If you're looking to cut back on your electric bills the Pueblo West Library has a tool that could help. It's called a Kill A Watt. You plug the small device into an electrical outlet and then plug-in an appliance. The Kill A Watt measures how much energy the appliance uses.
The Pueblo Library District hopes it helps people decide if they need to unplug appliances when not in use or buy something more energy efficient. "It tells you how many watts you're using, but it also tells you how much money you're spending on the use of that appliance," said Jon Walker, Executive Director of the Pueblo Library District. "Even when the appliance isn't in use, it's often drawing electricity and using electricity," he added.
The Kill A Watts are free to check out from the library in Pueblo West. The library received ten devices, through a grant from San Isabel Electric.
