Her attorney says Lindsay Lohan is "scared as anyone would be" about the start of her jail term.
But she says Lohan has "stepped up" and "accepted responsibility." She was led out of court in handcuffs today after a brief hearing, to start the 90-day sentence for violating probation.
The judge sentenced her after determining that the actress had missed seven alcohol education classes since December. She had been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to three driving charges.
Lohan is expected to serve the sentence in isolation -- and it could be shortened significantly.
The prosecutor said today that she thought Lohan was receiving the appropriate sentence. Danette Meyers said the case demonstrates that drunken driving is a serious offense with consequences.
About 12 hours before her court appearance, Lohan posted a message on Twitter that said the only "bookings" that she was familiar with were "Disney films." She added, "Never thought that I'd be 'booking' into jail eeeks."
