A generous donation creates a new "living" symbol of recovery in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood. A massive 30 foot fir tree was lovingly transplanted where everybody driving into the neighborhood can see it.
The owners of Gesco Nursery which is 40 miles up the road in Franktown saw the fire and wanted to do something. "We just thought maybe it would be something that the community could do together. Just thought if we could contribute in some way it would be wonderful," said Gesco Nursery Owner, Gerald Student. A decades old tree is valuable gift. Moving and replanting it requires skill the Gesco team also provided.
There is a plan to string the tree with Christmas lights. At the end of the month there will be a community gathering to flip the switch for the holidays.
