The Colorado State Patrol has released a statement following an accident that occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 6:15 pm in Eastern El Paso County.
A 1997 Chevy Blazer was traveling on Harrisville Road about 5 miles East of Hwy 24 when the vehicle left the roadway, rolling then striking a fence. The driver, 25 year old Amy Banes of Calhan was ejected from the vehicle. There were three others in the vehicle, a 11 year old boy, 8 year old girl and a 5 year old girl. The children were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was flown by Flight for Life where she was pronounced dead in flight to the hospital.
Sgt John Hahn of the Colorado State Patrol states that the accident is still under investigation, but Drugs or Alcohol were not suspected as a cause of the accident.
