Local family's video goes viral

A Colorado Springs baby and a lioness at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are causing quite a stir on the internet. It started back in late April when Ryan and Katherine Higley took their 1 year old son Trenton to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Trenton had no problem walking up to a glass with a lioness behind it. "She just started sort of stalking him a little bit at first." explains Ryan, "Then she was really going after him!" In the video you can see the lioness and little Trenton pawing at each other. "My first thought was I need to edit this and put this on YouTube." says Ryan.

At first nobody seemed to notice the video. "We threw it on and really not too much happened for the first 6 weeks to 2 months." says Ryan. But since Monday the number of views has grown to nearly half a million. The Higley's aren't sure exactly what it is that's enticed people so much. "It's just a combination of cute a baby... "says Ryan, "and ferocious animal!" says Katherine, "And just them being so close together and wanting to be next to each other." says Ryan, "Maybe for different reasons!"

But like any proud parents, the Higley's love the fact that their baby is making so many people smile. "It's just been kind of crazy seeing however many thousands of people just want to watch our baby play at the zoo." says Katherine.
