Two Sand Creek High School graduates each have an extra $10,000 to pay for college.
David Hirsch and Brendan Isbell earned the awards in a national engineering competition. They created a semi-automatic folding chair as the final project in their high school engineering program. David is attending Colorado School of Mines and Brendan is attending Colorado State University.
Their high school engineering teacher couldn't be more proud."It gives me an incredible amount of pride to know that we gave students the tools, environment and knowledge to accomplish such an amazing task," says Sand Creek Engineering Instructor, and the students' former teacher, Todd Matia, "I couldn't be more proud of these young men and the effort and time they put in. It is a true testimony to the fact that great accomplishments require talent, knowledge, wisdom, and skill, but without effort, determination, and sweat, a great idea will never be more than a dream."
Just four students nationwide received the award.
