Local group protests Palin, Beck rally in D.C.

On the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech, hundreds of thousands showed up at the Lincoln Memorial for a rally hosted by conservatives Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.

"We must restore America and restore her honor!" exclaimed Palin to the cheering crowd. Beck called for a return to conservative values in the government. "Something beyond imagination is happening." He told the enormous crowd, "America today begins to turn back to God."

But in Colorado Springs not everybody agrees with that message. "We refuse to allow Glen Beck to hijack the legacy of Dr. King's dream!" said one woman with a group of protesters gathered outside the El Paso County courthouse.

The group claims Beck, Palin and the Tea Party were trying to change the meaning of Dr. King's dream. They also said local governments all over the country aren't meeting the needs of minorities. "State governments and local governments refuse to protect the rights of people of color and that's wrong." said civil rights activist James Tucker.

As for the Beck's rally, he has said it was merely a coincidence that his rally fell on the 47th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech.
