Local pantry feeds soldiers and wounded warriors

God's Pantry Food Bank in Fountain will be donating over 5 dozen holiday food boxes to local soldiers and wounded warriors today as part of their mission to feed families in the Fountain Valley area. Another 150 food boxes will be distributed to homes in Fountain, Widefield, Security and the surrounding areas.

Director Carey Adams says the charity has put together the food boxes each Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past 14 years. However, this year they are combining their donation drive with a family event that will feature a DJ, a fire truck and free balloons for kids.

The food bank volunteers are also sending candy canes and homemade cards to military men and women serving overseas as a show of appreciation. The event is taking place all day today at at God's Pantry Food Bank, 102 N. Main Street in Fountain.
