Low cost rabies vaccination clinic scheduled for Saturday

A low cost rabies vaccine clinic will happen Saturday, October 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pueblo Animal Shelter in response to the increase of animal rabies cases in Colorado.

Friday, public health officials announced a skunk tested positive for rabies in the southwest corner of Pueblo.  Four bats had also tested positive for rabies in Pueblo County this year.  Last year no animals tested positive.  The concern of health officials is that rabies could spread more to domestic animals.

Contact with wildlife should be avoided. For questions regarding ill wildlife or wildlife displaying unusual behavior contact Pueblo Animal Services at 544-3005. Outside Pueblo County contact your local Health Department.

The rabies vaccine clinic will happen at Pueblo Animal Services, 4600 Eagleridge Place. Rabies vaccines will be $8.00, cash only.
