It's one of the biggest studies of its kind on lung cancer. London's "cancer research" announced a study into tracking the development and evolution of lung cancer tumors as patients are being treated.
The study will receive one of the single biggest funding commitments to the disease while scientists will be delving into several facets.
"Namely, cancer diversity, that is what's driving diversity in a cancer mass, what's initiating these differences between regions of the same tumor that foster evolution, and ultimately, how we can improve cancer selection pressures to treat cancer more effectively," says Professor Charlie Swanton.
It'll be carried out at six research centers, making it one of the biggest projects of its kind.
