Man accused of stealing from fire evacuee arrested

Boulder police arrested a man suspected of breaking into the car of a woman and stealing her belongings after she fled her home during the state's most destructive wildfire.

Boulder police said Monday investigators used forensic evidence to link the suspect to the vehicle break-in. Police identified the suspect as Roger L. Kincaid, 45. Police say he is a transient and that officers arrested him at a makeshift campsite in Boulder.

Police have not recovered the woman's belongings.

She was staying with a friend after leaving her home because of the Fourmile Canyon fire, which burned more than 6,000 acres and destroyed more than 165 homes. Police say she lost her passport and some $1,500 in jewelry, camping gear and other valuables.
