BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A 43-year-old Longmont man accused of trying to kill his neighbors by setting their home on fire while they slept has pleaded not guilty to arson and three counts of attempted murder.
The Longmont Times-Call reports Demian Weigle entered his plea in a Boulder court Friday.
Prosecutors say Weigle set fires to the front and back doors of his neighbors' home overnight on July 16 in an attempt to kill the family of three inside. The family woke and escaped out of a side window with the help of other neighbors.
Police say they think Weigle had suffered increasing paranoia after using drugs, and he came to suspect that his neighbor was spying on him.
