Man admits to strangling dogs, claims he heard voices

A Colorado Springs man faces a felony charge of cruelty to animals for reportedly strangling two dogs. Brian Jones, 28 was formally charged in court Thursday morning. In the arrest warrant, Jones admitted to strangling his 3 month old rat terrier in March after the dog bit him on the hand.

He also admitted to strangling a stray Labrador Retriever about a week earlier saying he had been hearing voices coming from his basement and killed the dog in an attempt to quell homicidal urges. Investigators reported finding a Satanic Bible and Satan Worship CDs and DVDs in Jones' home.

Jones may have strangled other dogs in the past. When investigators questioned his wife she stated "that Mr. Jones he may have done similar things while deployed, but this was the first incident since returning home."

Ms. Jones surrendered another dog, a one and a half year old Pit Bull/Labrador, to the Pikes Peak Humane Society. The couple had apparently acquired the dog about 2 weeks after the strangling incident.
