Colorado Springs Police arrested John Winkler, 43, of Oklahoma Thursday on a parole violation. They were concerned he came to town to harm or kill police officers.

Winkler is the father of John Winkler, 20, who died after jumping from a moving police car on I-25 Tuesday.

Police had learned the senior Winkler had threatened to kill the officers who were in the car with his son when he jumped on the interstate.

After the threat all police offices were put on lock down. Agencies including the Sheriff's Office, FBI, ATF and DEA helped locate Winkler. Winkler was arrested in the Rockrimmon area. He was not in his vehicle when he was arrested. He did not have a weapon. Officers are trying to get a search warrant for his vehicle.
