A man reportedly falsely claiming to be injured on a trail near Canon City is in jail today.
The Fremont County Sheriffs Office says that 38-year old Jeremy Lee Bullard was arrested after a bizarre situation that took place on Oak Creek Grade southwest of Canon City.
Thursday afternoon a deputy and a Forest Service officer were checking out an abandoned car parked at the Stultz Trailhead when they heard gun shots. The went to check it out and spotted Bullard who allegedly ran away. A short time later the officers located the subject who claimed he had fallen and injured his leg.
Fremont Search and Rescue who along with Canon City Fire Department personnel assisted in carrying the 300-hundred pound Bullard approximately ½ mile back the trailhead, where he was transported to a local hospital.
After an examination it was determined Bullard was not injured and he was taken to jail. Bullard was wanted on three Misdemeanor warrants for False Imprisonment, Dangerous Drugs and Damage to Property and is being held at the Fremont County Detention Center with no bond holds.
