Man arrested for assault on officer

A man was arrested in Colorado Springs for assaulting a police officer Tuesday morning.
According to police, officers were assisting with clean up of trail areas with the help of the Homeless Outreach Team. Jonathan Patzel, 20, who was camping under a bridge, became combative. Officers reported he pushed Officer M.J. Thompson, who then struck his head on a metal beam. He was knocked unconscious.
Patzel was tased and charged with assault on a police officer.
Officer Thompson required staples to close cuts in his head, but is expected to make a full recovery.
