Man arrested in Florence after alleged crime spree

A man that law enforcement officers say went on a multi-county crime spree was arrested last night in Florence.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says that 22-year old Davon Cunningham was arrested after he fired a .357 Magnum near a home on Highway 115 between Canon City and Florence.

Earlier in the day, Cunningham allegedly stole a Jeep Wagoneer and several handguns from a home in Trinidad, and then was later involved in a hit and run in Pueblo West before eluding officers on Highway 96 east of Wetmore.

Around 10, Fremont County Sheriff Office got the call from a homeowner that said a man was on their property and fired a gun. Minutes later officers spotted Cunningham in the stolen Jeep heading east on Highway 115 toward Florence. Cunningham pulled into a convenience store in Florence and was arrested without incident as he got out of the Jeep. Cunningham is from Mississippi.
