GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities are limiting activity on Clear Creek, where a 45-year-old man has died while body surfing on Clear Creek in Golden.
City spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley told KDVR-TV the man was swimming in the creek with no gear when he was swept under water Sunday.
Jim Rushton, who was visiting the park with his family, heard the man's cries for help and rushed to try and rescue him.
The victim's name was not released.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Golden Police Department said Monday that inflatable devices such as inner tubes and belly boats, body surfing and swimming are prohibited on Clear Creek from Colorado 119 east through the Golden city limits.
Violators face a possible $100 fine.
