Man hit by train in Colorado Springs

One man is recovering in the hospital after getting hit by a train in Colorado Springs Sunday night. It all happened around eight near Cimarron and Sierra Madre.

The conductor of the train tells us a man was walking on the train tracks when he hit the brakes. The train clipped the man knocking him over. He was talking to police at the scene and complaining of severe back pain though his injuries are believed to be non life threatening. "It sounded like the conductor did everything they were supposed to do." explains Sgt. Tim Hogan with CSPD, "They used the horn and hit the brakes. They apparently saw him crossing the tracks."

It's still unclear if the man was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Police tell us he did have a bottle of liquor in his backpack. The identity of the victim is still not known at this time.
