Man in stolen car confesses to string of thefts in Stetson Hills

A Colorado Springs man has confessed to a string of thefts from the Stetson Hills area after being caught with stolen credit cards in a stolen car Friday night.

Police say an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Harmony Bowl near North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway around 10:30 Friday night.  When the officer approached the driver, he found that the car had been reported stolen earlier the same day.  The driver, Alexander Lugenbeel, was also found to have dozens of items bought with stolen credit cards.  Video surveillance from an O'Reilly Auto Parts store also showed Lugenbeel buying items with a stolen credit card.

During a police interrogation, Lugenbeel confessed to a string of crimes in the Stetson Hills area.  He was subsequently arrested and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
