Man injured in glider crash near Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A 38-year-old paraglider is recovering after crashing near Erie Municipal Airport east of Boulder.

Steve Pischke, deputy chief of Mountain View Fire Rescue, tells The Daily Camera that rescue crews were called to the area at about 12:30 p.m. Friday after the man fell about 20 to 30 feet. The man, whose name has not been released, injured his back and suffered a compound leg fracture just above the ankle.

He was airlifted to a Denver hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash, which Pischke says involved an "experimental" motorized glider.
