Manitou Springs Police Department with the assistance of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms are continue to analyze two suspicious packages that were found in Manitou Springs on Thursday, forcing the closure of several businesses.

An x-ray released by the Manitou Springs Police Department shows what was inside one of the packages. The x-ray is what led to the evacuation of residents and businesses from parts of several streets including Manitou Ave., Lover's Lane, Lafayette Road, Navajo Ave, and Washington Ave.

The package was later detonated by the Regional Explosives Unit. The object that looked like a grenade was found to be inert and not capable of exploding.

Businesses in the area closed Thursday afternoon and did not open until Friday morning. Streets were reopened around 9 p.m. Thursday.

The origin of the packages has not been released.
