MANITOU SPRINGS, CO -- The Red Cross evacuation center at the Historic Congregational Church in Manitou Springs is now closed.
Volunteers helped a total of 12 registered throughout Wednesday night. They went to the center to wait for Highway 24 to reopen.
The Red Cross found a place to stay for two families that were evacuated in Chipita Park. The families, totaling 11 people, were vacationing in the area.
They evacuated when water from the nearby creek entered the house they were renting and began to cutoff road access.
They stayed at the Chipita Park Fire Department until the Red Cross found them a place to stay for the night.
