Catholic Charities Marian House soup kitchen in Colorado Springs hosted a flu shot clinic Wednesday for uninsured or underinsured members of the community. Dozens lined up to take advantage of the free vaccinations. It has already been a particularly bad flu season across the nation and Colorado, and the homeless and working poor are among the most vulnerable in the community. "There are a lot of our clients who don't have health insurance, so to get sick with the flu with the severity it is this year could be devastating and life-threatening," said Catholic Charities spokesperson Rochelle Schlortt.
Wednesday's flu clinic lasted from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. with services provided by Penrose-St. Francis Health Services and Walgreens. Another flu shot clinic will be held Monday, January 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mercy's Gate - Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel, 4285 N. Academy Blvd.
