Marijuana clinic owner gets prison term

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Southern California man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for running what prosecutors claim was an illegal pot business that only pretended to be legitimate under California's medical marijuana law.
Aaron Sandusky of Rancho Cucamonga was sentenced Monday for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The charges involved at least 1,000 pot plants.
Defense attorney Roger Diamond says his client will appeal.
Sandusky headed G3 Holistics Inc., which ran three marijuana clinics that federal authorities ordered closed in 2011.
He and five others were arrested in June. The others pleaded guilty before trial and await sentencing.
Prosecutors said Sandusky turned to pot sales after his real estate business collapsed, relying on what they called a "veneer of legitimacy" to cover illegal activities.
