Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera made an appearance on national TV Tuesday morning,
CNBC's "Power Lunch" booked him as a guest after an article in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal. Rivera answered questions about the city's budget-cutting measures, including turning off street lights, volunteers picking up trash in parks and taxi cab drivers helping police officers keep an eye on the city.
"I painted a good picture of Colorado Springs," said the mayor. "These are measures we have to take. Our citizens want us to tighten our belts."
