June marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern Olympic movement in 1894. As a preview to community events later in the month members of the media were invited to the Olympic training center for a competition.
News First 5 sent Bill Folsom and Jeannette Hynes. After just the warm-up Bill asked, "Is it normal to be sweating and feel like I've all ready had my workout."
The competition lead by trainers a the Olympic Training Center included vertical jump, the 5-10-5 test of agility and speed, and finally a timed 40 yard dash.
The competition proves that reporters are better at dashing to breaking news. After leaning that on the Olympic scale she rated fair to average Jeannette said, "I'm only average. I'm okay with that. I'm okay with being average since we're in a great facility like this with Olympic athletes. I held my own."
Olympic Day events for the community happen later in the month. A community appreciation day with booths, athletes and activities happens June 25th at the Olympic Training Center.
