Memorial concert for fallen officer brings huge crowd

DENVER (AP) - More than 100 police officers and sheriff's deputies attended a memorial concert for a Denver police officer who was fatally shot a week ago during a weekly summer jazz music concert.

Sunday evening's concert was also held at City Park. It followed her funeral at a Denver church on Saturday, which was attended by hundreds of uniformed police officers, family members and friends.

During a vigil before the music began at 6 p.m., officers and residents cleared the way for the family of Celena Hollis. The Denver Post reported that crowds saluted and applauded for about 30 family members who were escorted by officers.

The 32-year-old Hollis was shot in the head on June 24 while trying to break up a fight. Police have arrested 21-year-old Rollen Oliver on suspicion of first-degree murder.
