A lawyer for Michael Jackson's doctor says Dr. Conrad Murray will make bail, plead not guilty, and then fight the new criminal charge against him.

Prosecutors today charged Murray with involuntary manslaughter -- capping a lengthy investigation into Jackson's death last summer.

Murray is a cardiologist who was with Jackson when he died. He's accused of acting "unlawfully and without malice" in bringing about Jackson's death. The complaint says Murray didn't show the proper caution when he administered a powerful sedative to Jackson to help him sleep.

The sedative is supposed to be administered by an anesthesia professional in a medical setting, because it depresses breathing and heart rate while lowering blood pressure. Murray's attorney says he'll surrender to authorities later today.
