Missouri murder suspect caught in Buena Vista

A man on the run from police in Cabool Missouri turns up in Buena Vista, Colorado and is taken into custody on suspicion of murder. The Cabool Police Department learned early Wednesday evening that Daniel Chapman who was charged with killing his wife is now in custody here in Colorado.

A U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Apprehension Task Force tracked Chapman to Buena Vista and arrested him without incident. 54 year old Daniel Chapman is accused of killing his 55 year old wife Sandra at a local convenience store in Cabool along highway 60 on August 11th. Police searching for Chapman believed that he may have fled to neighboring states. Eventually police were able to track Chapman as he used his cell phone to contact people he may be heading to hide out with.

A witness statement said that he had seen Chapman inside the convenience store which Chapman owned with his wife. He said just as he entered the store he was waved off by Chapman and as Sandra ran toward the door the witness described seeing Chapman shoot her with a black semi-automatic pistol. The witness stated he heard at least four more shots as he ran for cover at nearby car-wash. The witness then saw Chapman drive away about five minutes later.

Chapman's capture and arrest were made by the U.S. Marshal Service working with Chaffee County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Carbool Police Department, and the Texas County Sheriffs Department.
