Mitchell High JROTC 9/11 ceremony

Colorado Springs High schoolers honor and remember 9/11 victims and heroes.

Mitchell High School's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps held a special tribute outside the school Friday morning.

The 8:30am ceremony honored military personnel, firefighters, police and civilians who died in e terror attack.

The kids also heard from Navy Captain Charles Davis. He's now based our NORAD, but was in New York on 9/11.

"I was fortunate to be stationed in New York, and was there on 9-11. I saw up close how horrible those attacks were," Captain Davis said.

He told the kids it's important to always honor our service members and emergency personnel who protect us.

There was also special tribute to Kathryn Yancy LaBorie. She was a 1975 graduate of Mitchell and she died in the 9/11 attack. She was a flight attendant on United 175 when it crashed into the Trade Center.
